SIMODEC 2008 : the keys to success
An 11% increase in the number of visitors, a favourable economic context, an increasing number of exhibitors and more satisfied exhibitors at the end of the trade fair make SIMODEC 2008 an excellent vintage.

Our impression is that the rather favourable economic climate which reigns in the Arve Valley provided excellent conditions for the SIMODEC trade fair. Machine tool and bar-feed machine manufacturers have announced that their activity increased compared to 2006 and that their order or project volume was comparable to that of SIMODEC 2000, which remains a benchmark.

SIMODEC 2008 benefited from the presence of qualified visitors with 39% of deciders–buyers who came to the fair with tangible investment projects.
The visitors originated mostly from the precision turning, mechanics, machine manufacturing, watchmaking and plastics sectors, although these last two sectors were slightly in decline.

14 900 visitors from 51 different countries were counted during this first global gathering of the screw-cutting industry.
This increase stems mainly from the French visitors with the number of visitors from the Haute-Savoie (51%) and the Rhône-Alpes region remaining stable, the Auvergne region increased its number of visitors by 14.6%, the Bourgogne region by 10%, the Pays de Loire region by 9% and the Midi-Pyrénées region by 8.8%.
The total number of foreign visitors remained stable. Switzerland is still the first supplier of foreign visitors, Italy increased its number of visitors by 4.25 %, Germany by 15% and Spain by 68 %. We also note a larger number of visitors from Eastern Europe and the stability in the number of visitors from the USA.

A high-tech trade fair

Nowadays cutting-edge companies are more and more orientated towards the production of highly technical parts and for this they require new machines.
The exhibitors were presenting their latest innovations, sometimes even as a world premiere (world premiere for Tornos with the MultiSigma 8x24, the DECO 13 e and the Micro 7 and at MIKRON Machining Technology preview for the French market with a linear transfer machine Multistep XT 200) in order to provide all the players in this industry with the tools they require to meet this new economic challenge.

A special mention for training

with the presence of over 1000 students at the trade fair under the supervision of the professional high schools of the Arve Valley. The ARVE-INDUSTRIES HAUTE-SAVOIE MONT-BLANC competitiveness cluster was there to reinforce this participation by presenting its Talents 2010 project.

The “Foire de la Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc”, who organised the event, succeeded in presenting a high-quality SIMODEC 2008 trade fair which had on show a product range in tune with the economic reality of the screw-cutting industry.
